Why I Started SEO on a Budget

In late 2010 my wife decided to try to achieve her life long dream of becoming a professional author. Since I have a strong computer programming background my job was to handle her website and other technical duties. I knew SEO was important but when I priced SEO services, I just wasn’t willing to pay the price they were charging so I decided to do it myself. I bought several books on SEO and spent countless nights reading forums and performing experiments. It was a huge time investment but I now understand what value things hold and how much effort is required to acquire those things. After 6 or 7 months I felt as though I had a great grasp on SEO but needed to get a better understanding on social media so I started reading everything I could about it until I understood the best methodology for sites like twitter and Facebook.

I had several people ask me to start a SEO business but I only did it for our sites and a few friends. Recently I realized that I have close to $1,000 of SEO software, pay for 15 private proxies each month and have almost two years of experience so I might as well start offering my services to others.

There are plenty of SEO firms going after local and regional businesses trying to help them acquire more customers so I’m not terribly interested in fighting for that space. What I’m interested in is providing affordable SEO services to website owners who know they need to pay attention to SEO but don’t want to spend the time to learn and handle it themselves and cannot afford the usually $100+ monthly fee SEO experts charge. I think there will be a strong market for a $20-$25 a month service that provides keyword research, a monthly report of you’re websites links, performance and search engine ranking position as well as a slow and steady accumulation of natural links to help improve your sites positions in the search engines. If this sounds like something you would be interested in or if you have any questions, please use the contact form and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Matt
